Ingredients for Apple Pie with Rice Krispies:

For the dough

  • Wheat Flour / Flour - 500 g
  • Chicken egg - 2 pcs
  • Sour cream - 2 tablespoon
  • Kefir - 1/3 glass
  • Milk - 1/3 glass
  • Cognac - 1 tablespoon
  • Soda (put out with vinegar) - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt

For stuffing

  • Apple (about 4pcs medium) - 600 g
  • Powdered sugar - 3 tablespoon
  • Candied fruit (A handful, any kind, I have dried cherries) - 50 g
  • Lemon (Juice) - 0,5 pc
  • Cinnamon (pipsqueak)

For the rice flakes

  • Rice flakes (I have Mistral flakes.) - 1 glass
  • Milk - 0,5 l
  • Sugar - 5 tablespoon
  • Soda (to extinguish) - 0.5 teaspoon
  • Egg - 3 pcs

For grease and crumbles

  • Vegetable oil
  • Semolina grits
  • Milk chocolate / Chocolate

How to cook applesauce with rice chips step by step with photos

There are tons of ingredients, but they're all easy and affordable. It is a little bit of a multipart process and I have divided the ingredients into different groups

First, let's take rice chips, which require rice flakes. I have from TM Mistral.

Fill cereal with milk, add sugar and cook porridge. Rice flakes are instant, but we need to cook them for about 10 minutes. Let it cool . Add the yolks, one at a time (whites whipped in a separate bowl until they become stiff peaks), and the raisins (if they are stiff, pre-boil them).

Then gently add whipped whites.

Pour the mass onto a lightly greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for about 10-15 minutes, until it is golden and the liquid has evaporated. Let cool slightly and chop with a knife.

Now let's make the dough. Mix sour cream, milk and kefir (as stated in the original recipe, but I think the products are partially interchangeable) and baking soda. Lightly whisk. Separately, whisk the eggs and salt, adding a little sugar (I did not do that). Pour in the cognac.

Combine the two mixes and mix well. Then add the flour, a couple of tablespoons at a time. Knead with a whisk first, then with a wooden spatula

Form into a ball and cover with a bowl. Leave to rest for about 15-20 minutes.

Meanwhile chop apples and drizzle with lemon juice.

Mix powdered sugar with cinnamon and candied fruit.

Roll out the rested dough into thin layer and brush with butter. Roll out to the middle and make a pinch first the long edges, then the short edges, turn over with the seam side down and leave for about five minutes. Then roll out and fold again. Repeat three times, don't forget to brush with butter.

Oil the baking tray and dust it with flour. I didn't do that because I baked on a silicone baking mat. Roll out the dough, sprinkle with a thin layer of semolina, lay out the candied apple mixture, then tile the apples. Wrap the edges of the pie over the filling. Bake at about 200° for about 20-25 minutes.

Then take the pie out of the oven, sprinkle liberally with rice crumbs, trampling a little. Return the pie to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes. The baking time is still approximate; be guided by your oven when baking.

Cover the finished pie with a clean towel and let cool slightly. Then slice into portions and sprinkle with grated chocolate (optional). All. Now you can surprise yourself. No one would ever guess that the main ingredient in the sprinkles is plain rice porridge. When hot, the pie crumbles; when cooled, the sprinkles already hold together quite firmly.
