This wonderful pie is only related to last year's pie by the presence of currants, but the wonderful result is really worthy of the name, so I continue the series "of royal pies", this is the second version!   • Wheat flour / Flour (+ two spoonfuls for sprinkling berries) - 2 glass
  • Sugar - 1 glass
  • Cream (10% or milk) - 1 glass
  • Sunflower oil - 0,5 glass
  • Chicken egg - 2 pcs
  • Egg yolk - 1 pc
  • Vanilla sugar - 20 g
  • Dough leavening agent (12 g) - 1 packet.


  • Berry - 600 g
  • Marzipan - 150 g
  • Egg white - 1 pc


  • Butter - 50 g
  • Powdered sugar - 2 tablespoon
  • Wheat flour / Flour - 3 tablespoon
  • Almonds (petals) - 2 handfuls.

How to cook king cake 2.0 step by step with photos

Let's start with the shape and the glass - the glass is 250 ml, the shape is 25x35 cm, the cake is big. Wash and dry berries, choose according to your taste, I have a mix of black, white and red currants, cherries, gooseberries, strawberries and raspberries - whatever you have in the house in arbitrary proportions.

Beat eggs and one egg yolk with sugar and vanilla sugar, gradually add odorless sunflower oil and cream. It turns out a liquid mass, as on the photo. Then add sifted flour with baking powder and stir with a spatula.

Pour the berries into a bowl and sprinkle with two spoonfuls of flour, you can also add a spoonful of sugar if sour berries predominate, mix everything together.

Now for the marzipan. Grate the marzipan on a coarse grater, mix it with the egg white and knead well, preferably with a mixer.

Line the form with baking paper, this is fundamental, so don't just grease the form. Pour the dough into a mold, spread pieces of marzipan mixture all over the surface and use a fork or spatula to try to stretch them over the dough, just so they don't remain lumpy, the marzipan will mix with the dough in the process.

Spread berries on top.

Mix crumble ingredients and sprinkle crumble over berries. The sprinkles are very light, you can add a little more oil if you think the lumps are too flaky.

Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 30 minutes. Check the readiness with a matchstick at the edge of the cake, because the marzipan will be viscous in the middle, so the dough will mold to infinity. I had the pie bake for 26 minutes. Let the cake cool completely.

The cake turns out tall, soft, and moist with a sweet marzipan mass inside, so it's best to eat it with a spoon, like a cake.

For even more beauty, decorate it with sprigs of currants and other fresh berries and you can invite guests!
