How to cook lentil pie step by step with photos

In front of the bowl of lentils sat two very mysterious creatures... - How long are we going to be here?? There's so much to see, exciting and new! There's so much to learn, to describe, to prepare... - You know, INA, that we do not have much time, but if we do our best and finish our task quickly and successfully, Professor Arion will certainly allow us to extend our stay on Earth. But in order to do so, we must give him a flawless photographic record of our work. We have already had a theoretical course on the benefits of lentils, we have studied their structure, properties, carried out a biochemical analysis, now it is not an easy task to apply our knowledge in practice and prepare a lentil pie! - Sputnik, the chief cook of the alien ship, said with enthusiasm and shouted loudly!

In an instant, the alien culinary team of INA, PLAN, and TIAN was built. So, today we are cooking lentil pie, and don't forget that lentils are a unique source of iron and zinc, so their inclusion in the regular menu increases the body's capacity for work and resistance to various diseases" - said Sputnik to his team. PLAN, bring the lentils soaked for the night. Here it is: beautiful, bright, tasty and useful! - PLAN said, bringing the lentils.

TIAN, boil them in salted water until they're ready (about 20 minutes).).

INA and PLAN, knead the dough from two kinds of flour (I had no buckwheat flour, so I cooked from one - wheat flour), butter and salt, gradually pouring the milk. The dough should be soft and homogeneous.

- Now we've kneaded the dough, Commander Sputnik, what's next?? - Oh, well done! Wrap the dough in clingfilm and put it in the fridge for an hour.

And now let's do the filling! Chop the onions and carrots... according to your tastes, i.e.е. Chop the onions and carrots to your liking.

Heat olive oil in a pan and fry onion in it.

Add carrots and sprinkle dried celery onions, season with salt and stir..

Then add boiled lentils, drizzle with wine and leave over low heat for about 10 minutes until the wine has evaporated.

When the lentils are dry and crumbly, take them off the heat and let them cool. Then we add the eggs and grated cheese (you can, of course, add more than 2 tablespoons of cheese) and mix it well.

- And now, team, let's get to work on the dough. Let's take the dough out and roll it 0,5 cm thick in a circle (you can cut it using a big dish, and leave the scraps for decoration). Grease the mold and place the dough so that it covers the walls and protrudes over the edge. Then we put the mashed cottage cheese, flatten it, and salt it. (Shape the cottage cheese in proportions, depending on your dislike/love for it ;-) ).

On top of the cottage cheese spread the lentil filling, flatten and carefully fold the edges of the dough. (If you have scraps of pastry, use your imagination and decorate the pie :-) ). Then preheat oven to 180 degrees and leave it there for 40 minutes. But in the middle of baking we cover the pie with foil, to keep the filling from burning. And, of course, periodically check and see if everything is ok, because we all have different ovens..

Well, here, my dear team, our pie is ready! We serve the pie warm and..... Enjoy ! And do not forget that lentils do not accumulate nitrates, radionuclides and toxic elements, in connection with what is considered an environmentally friendly product. Bon appétit, everyone!!!
