I propose to make a very delicious, appetizing chicken and vegetable millet pie. I don't think anyone can resist the taste! My family loved it. This hearty cake can be served with tea and coffee, with soups, or as a main course on its own with a light salad of fresh cabbage.

Ingredients for the millet pie with vegetables and chicken:

For the pesto

  • Olive oil - 3/4 glass
  • Basil (green) - 1 bunch.
  • Pine nuts - 3 tablespoon
  • Pepper mixture - 1 pinch.
  • Garlic - 3 clove
  • Salt - 1 pinch.
  • Parsley - 1 bunch.

For stuffing

  • Green beans (frozen) - 150 g
  • Onions - 1 pc
  • Carrots - 1 pc
  • Zucchini (small) - 1 pc
  • Chicken wings - 300 g
  • Hard cheese - 3 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 pinch.
  • Sweet paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • vegetable oil (for frying) - 3 tablespoon

For dough

  • Millet (Millet Golden Mistral in cookers) - 2 sachet.
  • Milk - 2 glass
  • Chicken egg - 3 pcs
  • Vegetable oil - 2/3 glass
  • Wheat flour / Flour - 3,5 glass
  • Yeast (live) - 25 g
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon

How to cook millet pie with vegetables and chicken step by step with photos

Make Pesto Sauce. Rinse and dry the parsley and basil well. Separate leaves from stems.

Gently sear pine nuts in a pan.

Place parsley, walnuts, salt, garlic (pass through the press), and pepper mix in the blender bowl. Pour in olive oil. Beat on medium speed until smooth.

Prepare stuffing. Peel carrots. Slice into thin rings. If carrots are large, slice in half rings.

Peel and wash zucchini. Slice into rings or slices.

Peel onions. Slice into half rings.

Boil some water in a saucepan. Put green beans in it. Bring to the boil. Cook for about 5 minutes. Rinse beans in a colander to drain off excess liquid.

Wash chicken wings, cut into 3 pieces at the joints. The tips of the last joint are not needed. Season the other two parts with salt, coat them with paprika, and fry in oil on both sides.

Remove the bones from the fried wings.

In a bowl, combine all the vegetables and chicken meat. Add prepared pesto. Season with salt (do not overdo it!). Gently mix everything.

Cover the bowl with the stuffing with cling film and leave it in the fridge for about 1 hour.

Prepare dough. Put golden millet Mistral in cooking dishes in boiling water. Cook until half-cooked, about 10 minutes. How convenient and easy it is! Then remove the millet from the bags. Put millet into a saucepan, pour hot milk (1.5 glasses). Cook porridge until ready, stirring.

Rub the still hot porridge through a fine sieve.

In warm milk (0.5 cup) dissolve yeast until a puffy cap. Then put sugar in the millet porridge. Pour in vegetable oil and milk- yeast mixture. Stir and let the dough rise.

Meanwhile separate egg yolks from egg whites.

Add yolks and most of the flour to the dough. Season with salt at . Stir together. Allow it to rise again.

Then introduce the whipped egg whites. Stir gently from bottom to top.

Pour the remaining flour on a cutting table. Spread out the dough (it is very sticky to your hands). Knead it lightly. The dough doesn't have to be hard.

Butter a baking tray or form and dust it with flour. Shake off excess flour. Grease your hands with vegetable oil. Place the dough on a baking sheet, making small rims.

Spread the filling on the dough. Push up the edges of the rims onto the filling and pin in the corners. If you wish, you can sprinkle pine nuts on the rims of the pie.

Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Spread the cheese on top of the filling. Put the pie in a preheated oven (200 degrees). Bake for 40 minutes until a wooden skewer is dry.

Remove ready pie from oven. Allow to cool.
