These are the ingredients we need

I use pretty big brown sugar

Now for the most difficult part of the recipe, we need to prepare the ingredients: Grind the almonds in a blender, melt the butter, zest and squeeze out the juice of 2 oranges

In a large bowl, beat the eggs, add 75g of sugar and a pinch of salt. Whisk for 2-3 minutes until all the sugar has almost dissolved.

Add the sour cream and orange zest and stir, then pour in the juice of the oranges.

Add semolina (or semolina, if you have it), ground almonds, and baking powder Stir once more

At the very end, pour melted and cooled butter into the dough - knead thoroughly with a whisk

Butter a mold (I had a 20 cm in diameter), and pour the entire batter into it. Put it in a preheated 180 degrees oven for 35 minutes. When the pie is reddish on top - you need to let it cool down for 15 minutes straight in the form, and then cover the form with a plate and turn it over - I got it out pretty easily.

While the cake is baking in the oven, let's make the filling. Here you need orange segments - for that you need to sharpen the knife well and peel the orange skin along with white film, as clean as possible.

There you go

Now cut out the segments - which is pretty easy, don't let that scare you! I used to skip such moments, I thought it was very difficult to separate such slices, but I learned that the main trick is a sharp knife!

Cut the orange right over the bowl, and squeeze the rest with your hands so that all the juice runs off. Do the same with second orange! Pour the orange juice and orange slices into a saucepan, add the rest of the sugar (50 grams), and bring it to a boil. If the kids will not eat the cake, the next delicious step is to add 50 ml of dessert wine, but you can skip this point! Bring it to the boil, and take out the orange slices, so that they do not boil over, and boil away the juice a little (let it boil for about 5 minutes), to make a delicious syrup. (I got about 3/4 cup)

The top of the cake must be poked in several places with a toothpick and pour the syrup, if it will drip - no big deal, it will take moisture from below and still become juicy - do not spare the soaking!

And decorate with our slices, sprigs of mint and you are ready to try it! Help yourself!

It is a very sunny cake with a bright orange flavor and aroma, with a nice balanced acidity and caramel cane sugar note!
