  • Wheat Flour / Flour (plus for dusting) - 500 g
  • Water - 125 ml
  • Orange juice - 125 ml
  • Chicken egg - 1 pc
  • Vegetable oil (I have 50ml) - 8 tablespoon
  • Yeast - 10 g
  • Sugar (I have less) - 90 g
  • Orange zest - 1 pc
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon


  • Sugar - 2 l
  • Walnuts - 10 pcs
  • Almonds - 30 pieces
  • Orange peel (1 slice) - 1 slice.
  • Raisins - 2 handfuls.
  • Butter (Plus for greasing before baking) - 20 g


  • Powdered sugar (90-100g) - 90 g
  • Orange juice - 2 tablespoon

How to cook orange wreath with nuts and icing step by step with photos

Crumble 10g yeast into warm water/125ml, stir.

Add 90g of sugar (I have less than 75g) and 125ml of orange juice.

Then add a little flour, about 200 grams and an egg and mix it.

Then add the oil. Oil, I have only 50 ml, add a zest of 1 orange and half a teaspoon of salt. Knead well.

Add flour (300g) little by little. Do not overfill the dough, it needs to stay soft. You can use your own process to knead the dough, it won't make any difference. I like to work with dough and do not use a dough machine, you decide for yourself how you prefer.

Place the dough in a bowl greased with oil and butter. Oiled bowl, I do not cover it. I do not cover it with butter. Place it in a microwave with a mug of water and leave it for 2 hours.))) (Or until doubled in size)

In the meantime, chop the nuts and almonds in a blender with 2 tablespoons of sugar and a piece of orange zest, but not too finely. If hazelnuts are available add them.

The dough has doubled in volume, it is ready. Spread it on the work table and press it down with your hands. Then use a rolling pin and roll it out to a big rectangle. It's about 1 cm thick.

Grease the dough with soft butter, I have 20 grams.

Sprinkle the dough with nuts and raisins (if necessary soak and squeeze), press a little with your hand.

Roll into a roll and cut it in two, but not all the way through on one side. Braid one part over the other.

Make it into a wreath by tying the ends together.

Place the wreath on a baking tray or in a mold with a hole in the middle. Drizzle with butter (I had the vegetable oil) and sprinkle with the rest of the pecans. with butter (I have vegetable oil), sprinkle with remaining nuts. Leave to rise for an hour in a warm place, covered with a towel. You can use the oven, warming it up a bit and turning it off. Then turn on the oven to 180 g and bake the product for 30-35 minutes. until brown. In any case take into account the peculiarities of your oven.

Prepare the icing made of sugar. powdered sugar and juice. I had a bright red orange and I spoiled everything with it - the pink icing is invisible on a dark pastry!)Don't make my mistake!
