Ingredients for sausage cheese pie:

  • Kefir - 100 ml
  • Wheat flour / Flour (1 glass= 250 ml, without the slide) - 4 glass
  • yeast (dry, spoonful without any spillage) - 2 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 pc
  • Water (warm) - 150 ml
  • Sugar (without sprinkles) - 2 tablespoon
  • Salt (a little less can be used) - 0.5 tablespoon
  • Butter (+2 tbsp.l. to grease the pie) - 50 g
  • Sausage cheese - 250 g

How to cook sausage cheese pie step by step with photos

Dough: Sift flour into a bowl and mix with dry yeast. Pour warm water. In a separate bowl, beat the egg with a fork or whisk with sugar and salt, add warm kefir (you can warm it up in the microwave), stir everything up. Pour this mixture into the flour, stir a little and add melted butter. Knead a soft dough. Add a few spoonfuls of flour while kneading if needed. (I usually put 3.5 cups of flour in a bowl, mix it with the yeast. And the rest of the flour I add in the process of kneading). The dough should turn out soft, very pleasant to the touch. The dough should be put in a bowl, slightly greased with vegetable oil. Cover with cling film and wrap with a towel. Leave in a warm place for about 2 hours. It should well increase in volume (2 - 3 times).

Spread ready dough on a table lightly sprinkled with flour.

Divide the dough into about 12 pieces. At this point, I turn on the oven to preheat (it is not very powerful, make sure it does not overheat too much, if necessary, just turn down the heat while the cake will stand on proofing)

Roll each piece slightly into a ball. Then prepare the sausage cheese - cut it into random pieces.

Then take a piece of dough and roll it lengthwise on a table with flour into a layer, about 23-25 cm long.

Spread the filling (cheese) on top. The filling can be anything, as long as it is not too hard, so the dough does not tear while rolling. Any filling: jam, curd mass, meat, dried fruit.. If I make a cake with a sweet filling, I do not put more sugar in the dough. Just a little less salt. The dough in this recipe is pretty neutral.

And then gently pinch the edges together.

And roll up into a rose shape.

Put it in a mold (with baking paper). I have a 22 cm. If you take 24-26 cm, put the curls at a distance from each other, they will grow well in width during the proofing and baking. This will make a really nice pie. Cover the cake pan with a towel and leave to rise for 25-30 minutes. in warm place.

Then grease curls with melted butter and send to preheated oven at 180°С for about 25-30 minutes. (use your oven as a guide). Do not open the oven door for first 20 minutes during baking.

After 30 minutes. You get a nice, fragrant pie like this!

It is not necessary to cut the cake, just break off a piece!

This pastry is unbelievable - it makes a very delicious and fluffy pastry.
