Ingredients for strawberry pie with cream cheese:

  • Wheat flour / Flour (for dough) - 280 g
  • Sugar (for batter -3/4 cup; for cheese - 1/4 cup; for strawberry layer -3 tbsp. spoons) - 1 glass
  • Butter (into the dough) - 110 g
  • Soda (in dough) - 0.5 teaspoon
  • Dough leavening agent (into the dough) - 0.5 teaspoon
  • Salt (into the dough) - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sour cream (20-25% fat, in the batter) - 150 g
  • Chicken egg (1 piece for cheese layer; 1 piece for dough) - 2 pieces
  • Vanillin (in batter)
  • Cream cheese (cottage cheese - Hochland, Bonjour or Almette - in the cheese layer) - 230 g
  • Strawberries (fresh, into the strawberry layer) - 1.5 glass
  • Water (in strawberry layer) - 3 teaspoon
  • Corn starch (in strawberry layer) - 2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil (to grease the baking tin) - 1 teaspoon

How to cook strawberry shortcake with cream cheese step by step with photos

Wash the strawberries, cut into pieces if they are big, and put them into a saucepan.

Add sugar to the strawberries and turn to heat.

In a bowl mix the starch and water.

When the strawberries will run clear (after boiling, cook on low heat for about 5 minutes), add the starch mixed with the water.

Gently stir until the mixture thickens (after adding the starch, cook for about 2 minutes over low heat). Take the strawberry mixture off the fire, let it cool to room temperature.

Prepare the cheese layer. Beat the cream cheese with a mixer on low speed until smooth (about 20 seconds).

Add the egg and beat beat again briefly.

Then add the sugar.

Beat briefly again until smooth. The cheese mixture is ready.

Now make the dough. Mix the sifted flour with the sugar.

Then add the cold butter, cut into pieces.

Using a fork or a cookie cutter, work the mass into a crumbly consistency. Measure 3/4 cup of the crumbs for sprinkling the top - it will be the fourth layer of cake.

To the remaining crumbs add baking soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla and mix thoroughly.

In another bowl add the egg to the sour cream, beat the mixture a little.

Add the sour cream mixture to the flour mixture.

Mix with a spoon. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Grease a large round dish 20 cm in diameter with olive oil, spread the dough out and form a circle.

Spread a cheese layer on top of the dough.

Gently spoon the cooled strawberry layer onto the cheese layer.

Sprinkle the pie with the reserved crumbs (3/4 cup), distributing evenly over the surface of the strawberry layer. Bake the pie in a preheated 180 degrees oven for about 50-55 minutes. Do not take the pie out of the mold immediately after baking - let the pie cool for 20-30 minutes in the mold by transferring it to a rack. Enjoy Enjoy your cake!
