Simple tart with easy to make ingredients. Very aromatic. Looks great on the table. The pie is not dry, primarily due to the mandarin syrup and the substitution of flour with semolina. The pie can be made using any citrus fruit - oranges, lemons, grapefruit.

Ingredients for Tangerine Pie:

  • Powdered sugar (for decoration - in a protein mass) - 0.5 glass
  • Sugar (0.5 glass for the dough, 0.5 glass for the syrup) - 1 glass
  • Tangerine (of which: 1 - for decoration, 1 - into syrup, 3 - puree, 5 - stuffing) - 10 pcs
  • Water - 1 glass
  • Chicken egg - 4 pcs
  • Semolina - 1 glass
  • White (for decoration - in white mass) - 1 pc
  • Nuts (for decoration) - 10 units
  • Milk chocolate / Chocolate (for decoration) - 20 g

How to cook tangerine pie step by step with photos

Peel 3 tangerines. Then peel and puree them with a blender.

Make a syrup of 0.5 cup sugar and 1 cup water to make a syrup - keep on medium heat until the sugar has dissolved, then bring to a boil. Peel and separate 5 tangerines into wedges. Add them to the hot syrup and cook over low heat for about 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, remove the tangerines with a slottedotted spoon and place them on a plate to cool. Set the syrup aside for now, we will need it later.

Beat 4 egg yolks with half a cup of sugar. Add zest,

1 cup semolina and mashed tangerines (which we did in step 1). Leave the semolina to swell (5 minutes)

Whisk the egg whites to a froth.

Carefully fold the beaten egg whites into the egg mixture.

Spread part of the pastry on the bottom of greased cake pan, then place boiled in syrup tangerines on top

Bake in preheated 180 degrees for about 35-40 minutes

While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup for soaking. Squeeze the juice of one tangerine into the syrup, then put it on a small fire to boil. Boil the syrup until it thickens slightly. Approximately 7-10 minutes.

Remove tart from oven and pour syrup on top. Leave the cake to cool completely and soak in syrup.

When the cake is completely cooled take it out of the form and decorate it according to your wish.

To decorate the cake, beat the whites of one egg and 0.5 cups of powdered sugar until stiff peaks. Spread the egg white mixture all over the cake. Top with the tangerines and walnuts and drizzle with melted chocolate. Tangerines can be fresh or can be caramelized. For the caramelized tangerines, mix 2 tablespoon water and 2 tablespoon sugar in a saucepan, bring to the boil and as soon as the water bubbles, add the tangerines you have sliced. Over low heat, caramelize the tangerines for about 3 minutes per side. When ready, cool the caramelized tangerines and arrange them on the cake.

The pie is crumbly, moist and fragrant. Made from simple, affordable ingredients, and looks very impressive. Bon appetit!
