This recipe is from a wonderful book by Alesya Ivanova "Ukrainian home cooking". Since I can't say it better, here's a quote: "If you think that Varenukha is only Bulgakov's dishonest administrator of a variety show, you are deeply mistaken. Varenukha is a kindred sister of Byelorussian krambambula and Russian sbiten, and also a third cousin of Indian punch and English grog." Girls, you get a stunning, fragrant and tasty alcoholic beverage. I'm guessing about 30 degrees. Since I don't have a spirit meter at home, I can't be more precise. Hot in a thermos outside in the winter, it's easy to drink, like a song.
