Once, in the late 80s, I was treated to this salad by my neighbors - two friendly elderly Kazakh women, mother and daughter. I just remember that the salad was unusually golden in color and very tasty! In search of the recipe, I searched the Internet, but could not find anything similar. I had to recall an old, forgotten but so warm and dear, in the memories of my younger days!
"Elton" is the more modern name of the salad, but the old name was - "Altyn-nur" or "Altan-nuur", which in Mongolian means "GOLDEN LAKE". According to the ancient legend, this name was used to call a wonderful lake in the bottom of which Mamai Khan hid his gold
