Ingredients for boiled beef tongue:

  • Beef tongue - 1 pc
  • Carrots - 1 pc
  • Onion - 1 pc
  • Salt - 1 tablepoon
  • Bay leaf - 5 pts
  • Allspice (or pea) - 15 units

How to cook boiled beef tongue step by step with photos

Take the tongue. If it is frozen defrost completely. Rinse it in cool water.

Put it in a pan. Pour cold water on it. Cover with lid and simmer on low heat for an hour. Remove foam as it is forming.

After an hour add onion and carrots to the pot. Cover and simmer on low heat for another 45 minutes.

At the end of the simmering time we season the tongue with salt, pepper and bay-leaf. Cover with the lid and simmer on low heat for another 15-20 minutes.

Check if it is ready - simply pierce it with a fork. If it goes in easily, it means it's ready. If not - finish cooking. Take the tongue out of the pan and put it under cold running water for about 2 minutes.

After that, we peel the tongue. The skin comes off very easily. Then put it back in the broth and simmer for a couple of minutes.

You can serve it both warm and cold. Keep in the fridge in the broth. Enjoy!!!!
