Few of our compatriots understand the taste of Japanese desserts, thinking that they are strange and even weird. But outside they look tempting and very attractive, such as the yellow-green Tiakin Shibori cakes. May the Japanese forgive me, but based on this dessert I dare to propose a very delicate appetizer that is sure to catch the eye of your guests.

Ingredients for the appetizer based on the Japanese dessert:

  • Green peas (TM "ECO") - 1 jar.
  • Chicken egg - 5 units
  • Mayonnaise - 1.5 teaspoon
  • Ginger - 0.33 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - 0.25 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste

How to cook appetizer based on Japanese dessert step by step with photos

Prepare the ingredients. The appetizer would look even more appealing if the chicken eggs had a bright yolk. Unlike the recipe for dessert we will use canned peas, which will give our version already some spices, including salt, so it is unlikely to need more (guided by your taste).

Drain the marinade from the peas. Using this product of the trademark "ECO" I was especially attracted by the fact that you do not need a can opener to open the jar. Purée the peas with a blender or food processor and strain them through a sieve for more tenderness.

Pre-boil and cool the chicken eggs. Only the yolks are used in the dessert, but for a more spectacular breaking/cutting you can also use whites if you wish, especially if there is no other use for them. Separately strain the yolks through a sieve, while the whites should preferably be pureed first with a blender and then strained through a sieve.

Add the ground ginger and nutmeg and 1.5 teaspoon of mayonnaise to the pureed egg yolks, mix thoroughly, divide into eight as equal parts as possible and form each one into a ball.

Spread a small piece of clingfilm on a plate. Spread 1/8 of mashed peas in the center, shape into a cake (you can do it with a spoon), spread 1/8 of protein mass on top. How big the diameter of these tortillas is will determine how closed the bud will be. (See. photo of the finished appetizer).

Gently gather the ends of the foil into a knot, loosen a little to let the air out, and gather again. Continue until a tight "ball". It's probably not very clear now, but you'll get the idea as you go along. If you wish, you can swap the egg white and yolk mass, but the egg white mass is more delicate and the molding will have to be more delicate and a little more difficult.

The appetizer, inspired by a Japanese dessert, is ready. Do not leave in cling film until ready to serve, to avoid the air becoming stale.
