A great cold appetizer served on black bread. The only disadvantage is that it insists in the refrigerator for 24 hours, we couldn't keep it that long - we tried it after 12 hours - it's very tasty!

Ingredients for chopped Bavarian-style herring:

  • Herring (lightly salted herring fillets) - 120 g
  • Chicken egg - 2 pcs
  • Onion - 30 g
  • Pickled cucumber - 2 pcs
  • Vegetable oil (added another 1 tbsp) - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard (Bavarian mustard) - 1 teaspoon
  • White pepper - to taste
  • Dill (to serve) - to taste

How to cook chopped Bavarian-style herring step by step with photos

Chop herring fillets into small cubes, but not to a pulp. Finely chop eggs, pickles and onion. Put all the ingredients in a bowl.

Add Bavarian mustard, white pepper, drizzle with oil.

Stir together. Put in fridge for 24 hours.

Tasted after 12 hours, served on Borodino bread.
