Ingredients for herring snack "favorite":


  • Herring (Lightly salted) - 1 pc
  • White onion (Can be onions) - 1 pc
  • Vinegar (I have grape vinegar) - 2 tablespoon
  • Pickled cucumber - 3 pcs
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Dill - to taste

How to cook herring appetizer "favorite" step by step with photos


Peel the onions, cut them in rings and pour vinegar on them. Leave to marinate for 20-30 minutes.

Meanwhile separate herring from head, skin and bones. Cut into pieces.

Grate cucumbers on a coarse grater.

For dressing mix oil, pepper and vinegar left over from the onions.

Lay the herring in a layer 1 on a plate, then the onion. Put cucumbers on top of onions, pour the dressing and sprinkle with chopped dill greens.
