Ingredients for Fish Sticks:

  • Fish (red fish - silver, humpback salmon, chum salmon) - 600 g
  • Salt (stone, spoonfuls without top) - 2 tablespoon
  • Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • Garlic - 3 clove

How to cook fish sticks step by step with photos

I had half a coho salmon (you can have the whole fish). Slit the fish along the belly and unfold it like a book. In a bowl mix salt, freshly ground pepper and minced garlic.

Rub the salt mixture all over the fish. Spread out on a clean kitchen towel, wrap it in a towel and leave in the refrigerator for 24 hours.

After 24 hours take it out of the fridge, put it on the rack and put on the window sill for 2 - 3 days. Allow the fish to dry.

After three days, take the skin off the fish and cut it into sticks.

The recipe for this fish was born entirely by accident. I once salted a fish, ate half of it, and put the other half in the fridge and forgot about it. I remembered a week later, took it out of the fridge, and it was so dry and delicious, and very similar to the one in the store. A little experimentation and we got the moderately salty, spicy fish you see on the screen. You're in for a treat.
