Ingredients for herring butter:


  • Herring - 1 pc
  • Butter - 180 g
  • Green onion - 1/2 bunch.
  • Dill - 1/2 bunch.
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon

How to cook herring butter step by step with photos


Prepare the ingredients. I strongly recommend herring as a salted herring, not fillets. The butter has to be at room temperature.

Strip the herring and remove the bones. Then chop with a knife into a textured mass in small pieces.

Finely chop the greens. The amount of greens depends on your taste and mood and varies from 3-4 sprigs to a bunch.

Melt the butter. Add herbs and herring slices. Add 1 teaspoon of mustard. Stir the mixture well.

Form sausage and wrap it in clingfilm. Put in refrigerator until serving.
