Ingredients for herring in mustard marinade:

  • Herring (lightly salted) - 1 pc
  • Mustard (1 tbsp.l. Russian, 1 tbsp.l. French) - 2 tablespoon
  • Onions - 1 pc
  • Lemon - 0.5 pc
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Sunflower oil - 3 tablespoon

How to cook herring in mustard marinade step by step with photos

Slice onions into rings. You can use more onions if you wish.

Remove the tail and head of the herring and peel off the skin.

Remove the backbone and bones.

Cut the fillets into portions and fill the jar, alternating with the onions. Lay the onions on the bottom and then the herring.

Mix 2 kinds of mustard with sunflower oil and lemon juice, add sugar.

Pour the marinade over the herring in the jar, cover and leave in the fridge for 12 hours.

After that time the herring is ready! It can be served with boiled potatoes, put on bread.
