Ingredients for herring pate:

  • Herring (medium salted) - 300 g
  • Cheese mass (like "Philadelphia") - 200 g
  • Yogurt (natural very thick or sour cream) - 100 g
  • Black pepper (ground to taste)
  • Honey (1-2 dess.l. depending on how salty the fish is)
  • Lemon juice (or white balsamic) - 1 tablespoon

How to cook herring pâté step by step with photos

Peel herring, cut into fillets and dice.

Place cream of cottage cheese, yoghurt or sour cream, herring, honey and lemon juice in blender. Grind until smooth. Taste. My herring was very salty, so I added 2 tablespoons of honey.

Put pate in tins and leave in fridge for 3-4 hours, better overnight. In the morning the most delicious spread on black bread will be ready.

And don't tell anyone that there's honey in the pâté, they won't guess it anyway. Enjoy!
