  • Sour cream - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Mayonnaise (Maheev quail egg mayonnaise) - 1 tablepoon
  • Onions (red onion and green onion for decoration) - 1 pc
  • Carrots (large) - 1 pc
  • Herring (lightly salted herring) - 1 pc
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon

How to cook herring holiday step by step with photos


Cut off tail and head of herring, skin and guts.

Remove the backbone and bones

Slice onion and grate carrots.

Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil, fry a little onion, add carrots, fry for 2-3 minutes until soft. Cool.

Dice herring.

Make dressing. Mix Maheev mayonnaise, sour cream and mustard. You can add lemon juice, if you wish.
