How to cook home-salted herring step by step with photos

Thaw herring, wash, put herring in a suitable container.

Prepare the brine: In 0,5 l. warm water, add salt, sugar, pepper, bay leaf. Stir thoroughly.

Add brine to herring.

Cover with a lid or a plate so that herring is pressed to the bottom. Put a burden on top. Leave for 1 day in a warm place.

Next day place herring in fridge for 2 days. So that the fridge is not stinky and herring does not take up much space, I put herring in a jar.

In 2 days herring is ready, you can cut it up and eat it. Bon appetit!!!
