Ingredients for home preserves:


  • Herring (salted) - 2 pcs
  • Onions (medium sized heads) - 2 pcs
  • Mayonnaise - 4 tablespoon
  • Black pepper (to taste)

How to cook homemade preserves step by step with photos


Fillet the herring until pitted and boneless

Slice herring lengthways into slices

Peel and cut onions in rings.

Mix herring and onion, add mayonnaise. I also add ground black pepper.

Place in a small bowl (I have a plastic jar), cover and leave in the refrigerator to soak for a few hours.
