Home preserves

A very tasty herring. Always make herring for a holiday table, guests love it, gobbled up in no time. Much cheaper than canned seafood.
Ingredients for home preserves:

Herring
(salted)

2 pcs

Onions
(medium sized heads)

Mayonnaise

4 tablespoon

Black pepper
(to taste)
How to cook homemade preserves step by step with photos

Fillet the herring until pitted and boneless |

Slice herring lengthways into slices |

Peel and cut onions in rings. |
|
Mix herring and onion, add mayonnaise.
I also add ground black pepper. |
|
Place in a small bowl (I have a plastic jar), cover and leave in the refrigerator to soak for a few hours. |
