Ingredients for salted fish "the Finnish way":


  • Dill (fresh) - 100 g
  • Trout (fresh or salmon) - 500 g
  • Salt - 3 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 3 tablespoon

How to cook salted fish "Finnish way" step by step with photos


Wash and dry fish, cut along the backbone, remove bones. Leave skin on. Mix salt and sugar and rub it on the fish. Wash and dry fennel.

In a bowl, in which fish will be salted, put 1/3 of all dill (straight whole sprigs). On the dill put half of the fish skin side down, put the dill again, then the fish again (skin side up) and dill again. Press down on top with a weight, having covered the fish with a plate. Leave at room temperature for eight hours, then place in the refrigerator for two days.
