Ingredients for salted herring with pomegranate:


  • Herring (lightly salted) - 500 g
  • Pomegranate - 0,5 pc
  • Lime (or lemon) - 0.5 pc
  • Red onion - 1 pc
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper (ground)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Sugar - 0.5 teaspoon
  • Sunflower oil (or olive oil) - 2 tablespoon

How to cook salted herring with pomegranate step by step with photos


Slice herring into chunks.

Squeeze out the juice of the lime and pomegranate (save some seeds for decoration).

Add ginger,

Pepper, sugar, oil and salt. Stir well.

Pour marinade over the herring and leave for an hour in the fridge.

When serving, sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and onion rings.
