I happen to live in an African country where they don't eat or sell salted fish. So I decided to salt the salmon myself. It was my first time. It turned out very tasty. Here's my pickle variant.

Ingredients for salted salmon:


  • Salmon (chilled, steak) - 300 g
  • Salt - 2 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Orange zest - 1 handful.
  • Bay leaf - 2 pcs

How to cook salted salmon step by step with photos


You need cooled salmon,

Salt, sugar, orange peel and bay leaf.

Sprinkle sugar and salt over the fish. Sprinkle the lemon zest and the bay leaf cut into pieces.

Cover with cling film and leave in a cool place for 4 hours.

After 4 hours, drain off the liquid and remove the orange zest and bay leaf. Salted salmon is ready!
