I got the recipe for this fish from my good friend Taniushka. Now we live in different countries, but when I make this fish I always think of her. I don't know the recipe's origin, but what I do know is that it's delicious.

Ingredients for marinated pollock "tanyushkin":


The base

  • Pollack - 1 kg
  • Onions - 0,5 kg
  • Sunflower oil (for frying)

Marinade

  • Tomato juice - 2 glass
  • Sunflower oil - 1 glass
  • Vinegar - 3/4 glass
  • Sugar - 1/2 glass
  • Salt (with a good deal of salt) - 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 3 pcs

The hardest part is cutting the onions into rings. At first you may think there are too many onions but when you taste them you will think why not many. Peel and wash the fish, cut off its fins. Slice it into portions. Fry in sunflower oil until softened, over medium heat. No salt or flour!!! I forgot to take a picture of the fish while I was slicing the onions. But it looks pale.

Layer the fish and onions in a container.

In a saucepan mix all the ingredients for the marinade. Bring to the boil, stirring, and pour over the fish. When it cools down put it in the fridge for 12 hours. Very good with any potatoes. I like it garnished with onion and black bread.
