There are many recipes on the pickled mackerel website and all are decent! My recipe is very simple, but the fish is ready to eat an HOUR after filling it with marinade. Check it out if you are interested!

Ingredients for pickled mackerel in an hour:

  • Mackerel - 2 pcs
  • Water - 1 l
  • Salt (without the slide) - 5 tablespoon
  • Vinegar - 2 tablespoon
  • Onions (small) - 1 pc
  • bay leaf - 4 units
  • Allspice - 5 pc
  • Cloves - 5 pcs
  • Fennel - 1 pinch.
  • Caraway - 1 pinch.

How to cook pickled mackerel in an hour step by step with photos

Prepare the fish, cut off the heads, gut and wash well.

Prepare the marinade. I have fennel and cumin in small coffee spoons for clarity. I used them as follows.

Put the water in a saucepan over high heat. When it boils, add all the spices, salt, vinegar and peeled onions, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool.
