Today I propose you to make a mousse made of smoked trout, a wonderful appetizer of fish, simple and delicious. A great recipe for parties and cocktails. You can use any cold smoked red fish (salmon, trout, salmon). This simple and tender mousse can be used as a filling for pancakes, you can serve it with crackers and croutons or with fresh vegetables, like cucumber and radish slices. However, the presence of vegetables does not exclude the bread component at all.

Ingredients for smoked trout mousse:

  • Trout (cold smoked filet) - 400 g
  • Anchovies - 5 pcs
  • Cheese curd - 250 g
  • Sour cream (20%) - 200 g
  • Mustard - 2 tablespoon
  • Black pepper (ground) - to taste

How to cook smoked trout mousse step by step with photos

For the fish mousse finely chop the cold smoked trout.

Slice the anchovies.

In a bowl for whipping, put the sliced fish, sour cream, cottage cheese, mustard (better to take the grain one, it is softer than the spicy classic), pepper to taste.

Process with a blender until all ingredients are smooth. Put the smoked trout mousse in the fridge.

Serve fish mousse chilled as an appetizer, can be used to make canapés or sandwiches. I used fish mousse as a base for a pancake tart. Enjoy!
