Three Hour Herring

Herring Salting Method. The fish comes out wilted, very tasty and buttery. I hope this recipe will come in handy.

How to cook herring three hours step by step with photos

Take fresh herring. (we always take a bit more, as it gets eaten up quickly).) |

Remove scales, wash. Flatten on back, take out guts and rinse again. |

Put herring on the bottom of the bowl and sprinkle with salt. |
|
Do the same with all the fish, laying them on top of each other. I had almost 1 kg of salt for 7 herrings. |

We salt it for exactly 3 hours. Then we take them out and rinse them from the salt. |
|
And now we hang the fish out in the breeze. After 24 hours take it off. |
|
Slice it into pieces and enjoy. Very tasty. |
