Cooked Mushrooms Stuffed with Lentils

A very tasty and juicy appetizer! Quick, uncomplicated and the result is perfect. There's no meat or fish, but I'm sure it would make a great to any holiday table. Lentils accentuate the mushroom flavor very well, paprika adds spice and decoration. I've made this dish several times (with red and green lentils), it's delicious, the family loves it!

Ingredients for mushrooms stuffed with lentils:


  • Champignons (large) - 6 pcs
  • Lentils (Canadian, green TM Mistral) - 80 g
  • Onions - 1 pc
  • Garlic - 1 clove
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoon
  • Nutmeg (ground) - 1 pinch.
  • Sweet paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 pinch.

How to cook mushrooms stuffed with lentils step by step with photos


Prepare the ingredients for the appetizer. Generally, use larger mushrooms, which shrink while baked.

Clean the mushrooms with a dry cloth. Twist out the stalks.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Season mushrooms caps with salt and pepper, drizzle with oil and put into the oven for 15-20 minutes.

While the mushrooms are baking, we'll make the stuffing. Pour water over green lentils TM Mistral and boil them according to the instructions on the package. The green ones take longer to cook, and the red ones will cook in no time at all.

Peel the onion and garlic, chop them, and fry until transparent with a little sugar. I just crushed the garlic with the flat side of my knife and send it to the onion.

Mix lentils and onions, add nutmeg and salt to taste.

We'll beat them with a blender until they are puréed.

Meanwhile, the mushrooms have baked and cooled a bit.

Fill the mushroom cap with pâté. For festive serving it would be nice to squeeze the lentil pâté through a syringe. And for a non-festive, we'll make it beautiful, too!!! We'll eat the rest of the pâté with pleasure!

We sprinkle paprika over the snack when we serve it. Enjoy!!
