For the croutons

  • Apple (green or yellow) - 2 pcs
  • Chicken egg - 1 pc
  • Sugar - 3 tablespoon
  • Butter - 50 g
  • Bread (wheat, white) - 7 slices.
  • Milk - 100 ml
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon

For the sauce

  • Freshly squeezed juice (cherry with pulp) - 200 ml
  • Sugar (to taste)
  • Potato starch - 1 tablepoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoon

How to cook toast with baked apples and cherry sauce step by step with photos

You have to start with the sauce, because the rest of the ingredients are pretty fast. Peel and pitted cherries.

Grind cherries with a cherry blender until smooth and strain through a sieve. Place the cherry puree in a saucepan, add sugar and bring to the boil.

Dissolve the starch in water so that there are no lumps.

Pour the diluted starch into the sauce, bring to the boil and simmer over low heat for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Let it cool, stirring occasionally to prevent a film from forming on the surface. The cherry sauce is ready.

Wash the apples, cut them into 5-7 mm thick slices, gently core and pith out to form a ring.

Now cut slices of wheat bread with a sharp knife into circles of the same diameter as the apples.

Whisk the egg into a froth, add the milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar and whisk until the sugar has dissolved.

Preheat the frying pan. Melt a little butter in a frying pan. Dip bread slices in egg-milk mixture and fry on medium heat on both sides until golden brown.

Add oil to the pan, add apples and fry for 1 minute on each side. They should soften a little, but not too much.

Sprinkle the apples on a baking sheet with the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Put them in the oven on to the grill "grill on ", for a few minutes until the sugar has melted and turned into a crispy crust on the surface of the apples.

Now you can assemble "the turrets" of warm croutons and baked apples with sugar and cinnamon.

Pour the cherry sauce over them, garnish with mint leaves and serve immediately, before they get cold. Bon appetit!
