The s'mores is a traditional Danish dish, eaten by locals for lunch or dinner and substituted for soups and main courses. Smorebrod is an open sandwich of rye bread and toppings. Fish is most often used in this dish. Recipes also often include fresh vegetables, cheeses, and pâtés. I made a grilled turkey thigh steak s'mores today. If anyone thinks. that it's not a s'mores, call it a big sandwich on rye bread to satisfy the hunger of the whole outdoors!

Ingredients for grilled turkey s'mores:


For the turkey

  • Turkey (turkey thigh TM INDILIGHT) - 200 g
  • Salt - 0.5 teaspoon
  • Black pepper (I have a mix of peppers) - 0.25 teaspoon
  • Olive oil (or sunflower) - 1 tablespoon

For the sour cream

  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoon
  • Mustard (Grain) - 2 teaspoon
  • Lettuce leaves / Salad
  • Cucumber (lightly salted or pickled) - 1 pc
  • Sweet pepper (I have green) - 1 pc
  • Bread (2 large slices of rye bread) - 2 slices.

How to cook grilled turkey step by step with photos


I will use the turkey thigh. The package contains 410g. For 2 pieces of turkey breast I cut 2 pieces of 100g each. I peel the membranes (there are not many), beat the meat with a mallet and marinate for 30 minutes. Salt the meat, pepper it with a collection of peppers and pour olive oil. This marinade will make the turkey meat on the grill juicy and natural, without all the different flavors. Just salt and pepper!

We toast the bread on the grill so that the top of the piece is browned and dried out. That way it won't get soggy from the sauce spread longer. Let's make a sauce of mayonnaise and grainy mustard.

We do the turkey on the grill grate. It's a quick 10 to 15 minutes. The meat is soft and juicy. If you want it fried, fry it to your liking, but don't overcook it! Spread generous amounts of sauce on the slices. Lay the lettuce leaves on top. Remove slices of turkey on the leaves, put cucumbers (I have lightly salted) chopped and bell bell pepper rings on top. The s'mores are ready.
