Herring appetizer with boiled eggs on crispy creamy bread. Not to be confused with forshmak! I bought herring yesterday and wondered what to make with it... I'm sick of herring, I've had herring on its own lately.. So after rummaging around in the fridge, "♪ invented ♪" ♪ I invented a miracle ♪. It was delicious for everyone. Definitely gonna make some more! Help yourself!

Ingredients for a snack of herring and hard-boiled eggs:


  • Herring (lightly salted) - 1 pc
  • Chicken egg (Boil in hard-boiled) - 3 EA
  • Green onions - 1 bunch.
  • Apple (Sour-sweet, raw) - 2 pcs
  • Vinegar (Wine) - 1 tablepoon
  • Sour cream (Homemade) - 2 tablespoon
  • Bread (Black or bran) - 8 slice.
  • Butter (For frying bread) - 3 tablespoon
  • Dill (I have frozen) - 0.3 pooch.

How to cook herring appetizer with boiled eggs step by step with photos


Dice herring into small cubes.

Boil some hard-boiled eggs and cut into small cubes too, then chop the green onion.

Rinse apples from skin, grate on a fine grater, splash with wine vinegar. Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl, add dill and sour cream. Our spread is ready!

Slice the bread into strips

Fry it on a pan with a little butter until crispy

Let the bread cool.
