Ingredients for herring pancakes:

  • Potatoes (raw) - 0.5 kilo
  • Herring (filet) - 2 pcs
  • Onion (half an onion) - 0,5 pc
  • Bread crumbs / Breadcrumbs (with slide) - 2 tablespoon
  • Green onions (minced) - 2 tablespoon
  • Sour cream - 2 tablespoon
  • Ketchup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sunflower oil (for frying potato dumplings) - 3 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper (ground) - 0.5 teaspoon

How to cook herring pancakes step by step with photos

Needed ingredients.

Grate potatoes and onion on large grater.

Add croutons, salt and pepper to potatoes and onion. Mix everything.

Form in your hands small balls of these masses. Put one by one on frying pan heated with oil.

Flatten each bump with a fork.

Fry both sides until golden brown, then put them on a napkin so that excess fat is removed.

Cut the herring fillet into small pieces and mix with chopped onion.

Make sauce: mix sour cream and ketchup.

Put the cooled potato flapjacks on a plate. Add herring and onion on the top.

Pour the sauce on them.
