You can't do without sandwiches at any feast. Fish or red caviar sandwiches are a particular favorite. I made these sandwiches with lightly salted, fatty, soft mackerel, salted with my own pickles, and added slices of pickled spicy apple for additional flavor. Try it, it tastes very good.

Ingredients for mackerel sandwiches with spicy apple:

  • Bun (3 slices) - 1 pc
  • Mackerel (salted) - 80 g
  • Apple (sweet and sour) - 0.5 units
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander
  • Lemon juice (1 tbsp.l. apple, 1 tbsp.l. for the sauce) - 2 tablespoon
  • Mustard (grain, not spicy) - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil (1 tbsp.l. apple, 1 tbsp.l. for sauce) - 2 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 pinch.
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste

How to cook mackerel sandwiches with spicy apple step by step with photos

Prepare ingredients for sandwiches. The salty mackerel is already salted. Remove bones from it, peel and slice thinly.

Slice an apple into thin slices, pour honey, oil and lemon juice, add ground coriander. Stir gently and put in the microwave for 30 seconds. The apple slices will become elastic, not brittle, and will marinate faster.

Prepare sandwich sauce with mustard, lemon juice and vegetable oil, season with salt and pepper to taste. Salt according to the saltiness of the fish.

Dry bun slices on a dry pan and spread butter on them.

Place the slices of spiced apple on top of the butter.

Put slices of salted mackerel on apples and drizzle with mustard sauce. The sandwiches are ready. Enjoy your sandwiches!
