I saw it on a menu at a restaurant a week ago. At first I couldn't believe they were serious. Tried it and after a few spoonfuls I got hooked... It's a bit strong, though!!! Then I found the recipe and comments on the German internet: Just like chicken soup, horseradish soup is indispensable for colds! Try it, if you trust it!

Ingredients for grated horseradish cream soup

  • Horseradish (root, fresh, grated) - 4 tablespoon
  • Potatoes - 4 pcs
  • Onions (white) - 2 pcs
  • Cream - 100 g
  • Broth (vegetable or chicken) - 100 ml
  • Greens (fresh)
  • Spices

How to cook grated horseradish soup with cream step by step with photos

Grate horseradish root on a grater to make about 4 tablespoon If you do not have fresh horseradish (which is desirable), you can use ready-made, as I have in the photo.

Chop the onions and potatoes finely and lightly fry in oil or butter, but not fry, then pour a little water to just cover the vegetables and simmer until the potatoes are tender. Mashed potato potatoes, add a glass of vegetable or chicken broth, then grated horseradish (!) and stir. Cook together for 5-7 minutes under the lid, then carefully open the lid (the aroma is not weak!) and add cream. Bring to the boil and let stand for a couple of minutes.

Add chicken pieces (like mine), salmon, shrimp, if desired... Garnish with fresh herbs. Serve with bread crumbs.
