One of my favorite soups is pea soup with smoked bones. But, on certain days of the year, I don't eat meat, and pea soup makes me crave. I came up with this recipe to replace it.

Ingredients for pea soup with celery:


  • Peas (250 grams )
  • Carrots (One large.)
  • Onions (2 medium onions.)
  • Root celery (150-200 grams.)
  • Vegetable oil (60 ml.)
  • Garlic (One head)
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • Bay leaf (2 leaves.)
  • Allspice (3-5 peas)

Our Ingredients.

I did not soak the peas, based on the text of the package. I used a 3.5-liter saucepan, poured 3 liters of water over the peas (I do not cover them with a lid, so they boil out very well). After 10 minutes, after beginning of boiling, put peppercorns and bay leaf, add a little salt. Bring it to a gentle simmer.

At the same time we work with vegetables. Finely chop onion, chop carrot and celery in small slices. Chop the garlic into 2-3 mm pieces.. First fry the onion in vegetable oil, for 7-10 minutes.

After the onions we cook the carrots for 7-10 minutes in vegetable oil. If there is time, do not be lazy, do it separately.

We wait for the peas, and in the meantime our vegetables are ready. In the photo, on the right, garlic is mixed with celery leaves (I keep it, since summer, in frozen form). You can replace it with parsley, it would be just as good.

In about 60 minutes the peas will be ready, they should start to fall apart.

Put carrots, onions and celery in the pot. Bring it to a gentle boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Then we add garlic and herbs, salt and pepper to taste. Bring to the boil for 5 more minutes and take it off the stove. Enjoy!!
