  • Rutabaga - 1 pc
  • Carrots - 1 pc
  • Onion - 1 pc
  • Barley grits (half a cup)
  • Petiole celery (half a cup)
  • Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt
  • Black pepper (to taste)

How to cook rutabaga soup step by step with photos


This is a rutabaga. Rinse, peel and dice them well.

Grate carrots on a coarse grater. Peel the onion and stick two dry cloves in it (I throw them away after cooking).

Dip the rutabaga, carrots, celery and onion into the boiling water.

Rinse barley and add to the soup. Add turmeric. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 20 minutes. The rutabaga turn translucent.
